My Lady - Finished already! Obviously the current game isn't open ended. I really hate the way Bethesda does that with their games. Then I hope the supplerment comes out soon to leave it open ended like both Fallout 3 and Oblivion did.
DT - That sounds better, the vampirisim in Oblivion left your character looking quite sick, even at level 1 which I didn't like, yes , yes ego thy name is Ravenwood! The sun does not kill vampires as you say but does reduce their vitality.
Poor MsMD. Trampled by giant hefelumps! A some what inglorious end indeed. I recall in Oblivion it was bears that were a real danger to my character. I tended to practice the belif that animals were to be avoided if possible. It never really paid considering the damage they inflicted to both armour and body.

Well I'm now cured of vampirism. It was a pain though. Had to fill a black soul gem with a human soul (since I'm in the Imperial Legion now I took one of the rebel's) though that was hard since I'm used to sneaking and I had to go right up to them to cast the damn soul trap spell. Then the most frustrating bit for me was just meeting a guy at dawn, first try he got stuck on a rock until the time period passed and then just walked away, second he just didn't show, third he wouldn't talk to me about it, and then finally he did the little ritual. Damn AI.
I made it to about level 3 and was just starting to look quite pale, eyes were a bit different, and I believe you could start to see my teeth. Apparently at level 3 people won't talk to you unless you talk to them, then level 4 they attack on sight.
Sabre-tooths have gotten me quite a bit too, keep getting the jump on me. So many a battle with cat and bear has only been one by a lucky axe strike to the head. The worst is when you still have about a fifth of your health left and the enemy performs an execution. Nothing dampens your mood more than having a sword through the chest (especially after spending a lot of time in the wilderness without saving).

As I recall feeding as a vampire was mainly on your sleeping companions (at least it was at the lower levels in Oblivion) but that was bad for your soul and made it more difficult to turn you back. The rest sounds the same, or at least as I read. I always made certain I was cured before I turned after the first time.
Nothing worse than getting killed by an animal, especially as the reward for defeating it was so little (a pelt if you were lucky). Made horses really worth while as you simply galloped to the nearest town and let the city watch deal with the creature. Don't like the sounds of sabre-tooths. Sounds as though you spend a lot of time looking around when you travel in the wilderness or you get ambushed.

Pretty much, why I like having high sneak as it means most creatures won't notice me and I can get the drop on them. Though trolls always seem to get the drop on me.
I have found one issue with using a bow now, especially when trying to be sneaky. Unless you can recognize armour at a distance it can often be hard to tell if someone is friend of foe (they should put up the name of them now matter the distance with a bow) and if you move in too close you run the risk of being spotted. I came across a small fort and spotted a guy so took him out, only to learn he was a guard. Thankfully they didn't spot me while sneaking, and there were a couple of bandits nearby so they blamed it on them.

I have yet to run into any vampires, as far as I know, so I`m assuming I`m not one. I did run into my first mammoth`s yesterday which was pretty cool. Two were with a giant and I didn`t bother them, another was alone and I thought 'Meh, why not?' so I attacked it. Wrong move at level 7. I ended up running across the plains, a very angry mammoth on my heels, then ran into the mouth of a cave for protection only to be attacked by some idiotic bandit before I could get inside! I was shouting at the moron. "Hey, stupid! Don`t you see those tusks at our back! This might not be the best time to get into a sword.............." then we both got stepped on and died.

Hah! Nice work Feral. I found a fort not far from Whiterun which is perfect to hunt Mammoths from once you've cleared it of bandits. Basically you lead them back to the fort then stand on the battlements while you rain arrows down upon them. Best to do it without Lydia though, as she has a nasty tendency to charge out and get smacked by giants. Though I'm now level 25, so fighting Mammoth's and giants is a hell of a lot easier.

I took a bit to decide between Empire and Stormcloaks, but since I'm playing a character based on my new one Selwyn whose a ranger i decided the Empire fit best with protecting the people.
Keep running into vampires now, and having to cure myself before vampirism takes hold which is a real pain when i can't find a cure disease potion anywhere.
Oh and I just had to deal with a small troll invasion of that town you go to on your way up the big mountain. Wasn't even for a mission, was there for other reasons when suddenly people began drawing weapons. I couldn't figure out what was going on until three trolls crossed the bridge, fortunately nobody died (unlike the dragon attack on Marthal).

I`m going to be a Stormcloak, just due to my girl`s Nord background, just as soon as I start actually doing something for the main quest! *Blushes* I mentioned to my child that I haven`t seen any dragons. She informed me that hanging out in a dwarven city killing bandits and Forsworn won`t get me any dragons. So....when next I play I guess I had best stop lollygagging and do something to call in a dragon.
Remind me why I wish to get my rump kicked...someone....

Fighting alongside the Empire when the Stormcloaks attack Whiterun. Was kinda odd to see amongst the Human guardsmen and Legionaires, a hulking orc in empire armour... bet the Stormcloaks didn't see that one coming either! Your next Ulfric!

I'm half doing main quests and half doing my own thing. I keep coming across people being attacked by bandits and spriggans and bears and such. Unfortunately I usually realize too late to save them. Got about seven different shout powers now though, and still got a dragon soul spare.

Oh dear, laughing so hard my Lady at your encounter with the Mammoth.
DT I'm curious, where are you meeting these vampires? In Oblivion they were usually in caverns (ran into a whole bandit gang that had been turned which was a real surprise).
My Lady you would know if you were infected as one of the signs is bad dreams of fanging your companions in their sleep.
I don't see a problem in not doing the main quest until your ready. In Oblivion I was Archmage and the head of the thieves guild before I decided to finally help poor old Sean Bean become a Stone Dragon (better I suppose than being a Uruk's archery target but dead is still dead).

I do have my moments when I game, Ser Raven. I`ve told my daughter we need to get 2 headphones and a capture card. We could call our YouTube channel 'Me & Mom Play Skyrim'.
Today I ran into my first vamp. Sneaky thing appeared out of nowhere at a little girls grave and lambasted me. If she turned me I am going to be SO mad. I wanted to be a werewolf.

You get to become one if you follow the Compagnions q-line i heard. I tried to fight a giant myself today....yeh, didn't turn out well. Flew fifty miles up in the air.

So far mostly caves. Found some in an old castle right down south where apparently they make wanderers fight wolves for entertainment (though they didn't realize I was even there until the only two vamps that remained were the leader and his helper). I keep finding them on missions I'm sent on though, which keeps panicking me every time since nobody seems to stock cure disease.
That was in fact the first mission I met vampires on feral. Let me tell you that vampire got no mercy from me, though she did get a cracked cranium.
And I still loved my first encounter with a giant, going up the big mountain. I've found i talk to myself while I play and this is basically how it played out..
"Huh, there's a big fire up here. Must be a funeral pyre or something." *Moves in coser* "Nope, just a big fire. Ooh! Mammoth cheese!" "Hey, something sees me." *Turn around* "Hey a giant, and he's waving at me! Aww, giants are nice. Hello Mr Giant!" "Hey, now he's charging at me. I don't think he was waving." *Takes two steps to run* "Great, and now I'm flying through the air with the greatest of ease."
And in retrospect I should have seen it coming since the hand he was waving did hold one hell of a huge-arse club.
