Well you should go to riften to the Local Inn there, bee and something. In there you'll meet this priest guy. Talk to him about the Temple of Maara and then buy th necklace for 200 gold; Wear the amulet and you can marry.
To marry certain NPC's, sometimes you have to do their q-line first though. If your male, i suggest you marry Carmila from Riverwood (the sister of the guy who owns Riverwood Trader) because by now you should have done the Golden Claw quest.
It's all up to you really. if you want to see who's eligible, i suggest going to the Skyrim Wiki and check the Marriage topic.

I think it's my Necromancer who found an amulet of Mara in one of the earliest quests, which is great since it now won't cost me anything (though I'm not certain if she'll marry yet, maybe if the right person comes along).

Okay, I was going to get my werewolf on next, but I think I may have to join the rebels and avenge Jarl Ulfric! First though, I have this dragon that seems to think a Nord makes a really nice toothpick to take care of, but after that it`s time for some Imperial`s to fall!

Hahah, and here I sit still undecided (again).
Oh, I'd warn any low-level people to avoid the dungeon Volskygge. It has two bosses at the end, both extremely tough (even on lowest difficulty), and once you pass the puzzle you can't leave through the front door. I found out too late with my Necromancer, and fought two of the most intense battles I've had so far.
I've re-created my ranger/Selwyn character, though as a Wood Elf this time (decided to take advantage of their bonuses so I don't have to do as much work to get back to where I was. And I just learnt you can kill birds, after shooting a hawk out of a tree. Now back to a life of hiding in the shadows of the trees and protecting Skyrim's people from all threats.

Well, since restarting Selwyn I've had an assassin sent after me (real early on as I was travelling from Riverwood to Whiterun) and while taking out a bandit chief had some hired thugs come after me for stealing from an old lady in the woods (which was fortunate, as the chief almost spotted me when they ran in and distracted them, plus they weakened each other so I could steal the kills).

Yup, anyone can be an Werewolf.....even a lizardman! As for the Empire v Stormcloak thing....
The stormcloaks want a Skyrim just for nords really, and you can see that in Windhelm when you go to the grey quarter and talk to the dark elves. I sided with the Empire simply because my character is an orc and would therefore be loyal to the Empire. But I can see Nord players siding with Stormcloaks.

Probably not nice. Turns out she's a witch though so I think it cancels it out. Wood Elves are not a well-liked bunch though, even other elves dislike them it seems.
I remember in Morrowind you could be a vampire/werewolf. It gave you a werewolf body with a vampire head tilted to the side. Don't think you can in Skyrim. I do know vampires can't get lycanthropy due to their immunity to disease.
My original Nord character went Empire simply because she was a ranger focused on protecting the land's citizens and the Empire seemed more in line with that. My Redguard's definitely going Stormcloaks since he's based on the Easterling's in Lord of the Rings so it makes sense. I think my Wood Elf ranger will avoid picking sides since she'll be a ranger that focuses on protecting people and not getting caught up in politics (she'll fight either side if she sees them hurting people). My Breton necromancer and Argonian assassin are both undecided so far, one will go Empire though.

I`m trying my best to stay vampire free, thankfully so far so good! I put my wolf status on hold to sign up with the rebellion. All kidding between Gor and I aside, I can see both sides of the conflict. Yes the Nords want thier lands for themselves, and that`s wrong. But so is forcing a native people to abondon thier Gods, which is what the Empire is doing to the Nords. Playing as a Nord, I felt my girl would sign up with Ulfric. Other races I can fully understand thier backing the Empire.
Tonight I hope to get signed up w/ the Stormcloaks. I would have last night but I got sidetracked getting my marriage amulet, cleaning out a mine and fighting yet another dragon with a fondness for Nord flesh! Those darned dragons are getting to be a real thorn in my side!

But so is forcing a native people to abondon thier Gods, which is what the Empire is doing to the Nords. Playing as a Nord, I felt my girl would sign up with Ulfric. Other races I can fully understand thier backing the Empire. ! This actually proved an issue for me when I was dealing with the Forsworn and met the King in Rags on my Nord ranger game I lost. One the one side my ranger would have wanted to help them since they were basically forced off their lands by the Nords and were largely executed after they tried to rebel (I think there's irony in there somewhere), yet the Forsworn keep attacking innocent farmers and the like. So it had me stuck for a bit on what to do. Then the king ordered me to kill a man because he had 'outlived his usefulness', which basically clinched the deal for me. The king ended up with a shiv in his back, and I took off down his escape tunnels. My necromancer joined the Mage college in Winterhold. Good for learning spells and having alchemy and enchanting tables on hand. Though I'm now confused about Necromancers since the college allows them, and I'm one, but every Necromancer I meet tries to kill me. Needless to say they generally die first and find themselves brought back as my servant. I'm really loving some of these shout powers, though most I've only found the first level for. So far, from memory, I've found: The basic relentless force, quick sprint, slow time, summon storm, freeze enemies, fire breath, turn intangible, disarm enemy, and a couple of others that have escaped me now. Some of these can be damn useful. For instance I found freeze enemies is damn useful on low levels when stuck facing an angry giant. I've learnt to be cautious with summon storm since, at least on the first level of it, it doesn't distinguish between friend or foe and if you're too close to a town or city you may end up with a lot of murders on your hands. Oh, and anyone done the Mind of Madness quest? That one had me stumped a couple of times on what to do. Damn that Sheogorath.

Aren`t the Greybeards awesome?! I wish I had help when I stumble upon dragons. I`m always bumbling along, Lydia somewhere far behind, fighting some creature I opted to run from, when they drop down from the sky.*Sighs*
That`s a real mark of a well thought out game, the moral decisions. That was one of the things I loved about DA: Origins. As in real life there are no easy answers, and each person has to follow thier own heart and ideals.
I haven`t done the Mind of Madness quest yet, but my daughter did. Isn`t that Sheogorath a hoot? Madder than a hatter of course, but still so darned fun! Has anyone become a Dark Brotherhood member yet? I haven`t, and don`t forsee doing so but....well, I don`t want to spoil, but there is a perk that I would KILL to be able to enjoy! All this darned walking is giving my Yasdra corns. Fast-travelling is great, but I like to poke around and investigate. I`ve found a couple shouts that my linear kid never did just by meandering.

I just had a tough fight with a dragon I had as a bounty for Marthal. Damn thing spotted me too early, then a frost troll joined the fray, and only through potions, quick healing magic, and dodging and clambering around the mountain did I manage to slay the beast. It wasa pretty close thing though.
Only joined the Champions and Winterhold College so far. Though you have reminded me I need to find out who sent that assassin after me, and why.
